About
My name is Jeff Klemens.
I am a small animal veterinarian and a 2005 graduate from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. My first eight years of clinical experience were spent in two different multi-doctor practices in northern Indiana. The next four years I worked at a 24-hr emergency and critical care center in the same area. I began doing relief work in 2013, providing long and short-term relief coverage at several small animal practices. During my time as a relief veterinarian I have worked in clinics that range from single doctor to multi-doctor specialty practices, in both rural and urban settings, with clientele from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.
I have been fortunate to work for practices with very progressive standards of care. This has allowed me to achieve a high level of medical and surgical skill. The years I have spent doing emergency work have allowed me to hone my soft tissue surgical skills, exposed me to a wide array of trauma (what I refer to as my “dog vs” list), and allowed me to manage critical patients in hospital. I have experience in both general practice and emergency medicine, which has prepared me for anything that walks (or is carried) through the door.
Outside of work, I am an avid board-gamer, lover of craft beer, and die-hard Miami Dolphins and Purdue Boilermakers fan. If it’s sci-fi or fantasy fiction, I’m probably into it. I love to travel, and have already set foot on 3 continents and 13 countries. I spent a semester in Lincoln, New Zealand during undergraduate study. My externship during my senior year of veterinary school took place at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen, Denmark. I also love to cook, and I love a good meal with friends.
Since February 1, 2018 I have been a full-time relief veterinarian and owner/operator of Reliable Relief Services, LLC. I began this endeavor to find the happy medium between practice ownership and associate positions. I enjoy working with new people and the variety that relief work has to offer. Also, I understand the dilemma of being short-staffed without having a quality backup. My goal is to provide quality, compassionate relief when you need it. I will provide clear and concise medical records that will make follow-up for you and your staff effortless. I will bring a positive attitude and a level of husbandry that will allow me to deal with even the most difficult clients or patients.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and what I have to offer for your business. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, or visit the booking page to schedule your relief!
